3) Be sure to stop into the Bexley Public Library in the months of March and April and see my solo exhibit! Artist reception to be announced!
The reason I paint is to give back in my own small way. I paint to put color out into the world because I believe it has the power to lift, the power to heal. It certainly helped me return from the depths of my breast cancer journey. Since 2016, I have been painting, teaching and sharing my art, in many formats, to encourage and empower others. The painting shown here was the last commission I created in 2019, literally delivered mid-December.
This painting was like a gift to me, as it was commissioned by one of three special sisters, who maintain the fight against breast cancer through their October fundraising event, held at Leed’s Farm, called Witches Night Out.
I was thrilled to be given artistic license in creating this piece, with the only request being the size, dimensions and that it incorporate more yellow than pink. I am thrilled that it actually hangs in the client’s laundry room/mudroom. She was embarrassed and thought she’d offend me when I inquired it’s intended location and I couldn’t be happier!
Why? Because art should bring joy. And if it resides in the humming hub of their home, that means it is bringing color to them every day, every time they pass through that space. They operate a farm. I grew up in the country and I know how much work is involved with a farm: early mornings, late nights no matter the weather, no matter what. When I reflect on this particular commission, I am thrilled knowing where it resides and that it can brighten everyone who encounters it! Thank you Julie for such a gift, the opportunity to bring you and yours color!
I was thrilled when a young woman, relatively new to Bexley, reached out one day and asked if she could commission me to paint a large painting for her home. She had one empty wall needing something, she explained. I went to her home, we met and discussed the project, measured and agreed upon the size canvas she needed and off I went to work!
After stretching, painting and wiring this baby, it was delivered and hung over her gorgeous hot pink couch and WOW!!! Perfect Pairing and I am tickled…Pink!!
This was a new event for the Short North, called the Short North Sunday Bazaar, running Sunday August 18th, 11-4p. I was asked by The Paper Daisy Flower Boutique to be their “featured artist” for the day and to bring in larger paintings and provide a demo! It was the perfect weather day and I had fun connecting with clients, shoppers and friends! Thanks Kim and Hayley at Paper Daisy- fun time!
I had the added joy of connecting my old friend and Photographer, Stephanie Matthews with new friend and Budding Photographer, Julia Miracle! Never know when networking will strike!
PLEASE JOIN ME AUGUST 15, 2019 from 5-7pm, for an Artist’s Reception!
My solo exhibit, hosted by Argo & Lehne Jewelers in Upper Arlington will proudly give a portion of proceeds to the wonderful work Pink Ribbon Girls provides to their clients who are battling women-related cancers.
This show will hang from August 5-October 25 and includes new paintings and collages!
ART & Jewelry in one place…what’s not to love?
Spring has proven truly hectic, so in short, there are new sets of blank, 4x 6 greeting cards, 12 designs to a box, now available through Bexley’s Urban Emporium and the Short North’s, The Paper Daisy! Stop in, stock up, send a friend an artful note!
Had a great time at the March 29th opening of my exhibit at Urban Acupuncture! Despite the rainy night, we had many friends stop by to see my Spring-inspired, new work. The show will hang through May, but due to the Center’s treatment schedule might prove difficult to see as a walk-in!
Here are some shots from the opening…special shout out to Chef Brooke from Bleu & Fig!! She whipped up some great appetizer platters and goodies at the last minute for me- delicious is all I can say!!!
Join me in kicking off an exhibit of my new paintings which will hang for the months of April & May!
In order to respect Urban Acupuncture’s busy treatment schedule, best and easiest time to see the work is at the opening reception, so be sure to drop by for a drink and a peek!!
Street parking and nearby Kroger parking lot available!
Saturday, February 9th, I had the pleasure of teaching an art collage workshop with eleven women who are currently battling or have somehow been affected by cancer. In our three hour workshop, we shared art supplies, stories, encouragement and chocolate! I believe the day’s 3 greatest takeaways were (1) that art is therapeutic and can calm and soothe stress (2) it is important to take time, schedule whatever time one can afford in their day, to sit and be creative and (3) color can be powerful in enhancing one’s mood! I encourage everyone to tap into their own creativity! It can be as simple as doodling on a scrap piece of paper, but I highly recommend taking it further, and add color!
Please join me on Saturday, December 1st from 6-8pm for the opening of
2018 OAL Thumb Box Exhibition
at Sign House, 735, 737 Sullivant Avenue
This is one of the Ohio Art League’s oldest exhibitions, where all works accepted can not exceed 6” x 6”!

Come see what we've done!
To know my work is to know I love big, bold color and texture! I like layers and lots of them! But there are also times that I like to change gears and strive for subtlety! In doing so, I tend to bring in white acrylic to soften the scene around the focal point, allowing it to speak. Lately, I have been playing with Alcohol Inks and testing them outside of their intended YUPO paper, to see how well they play with others...
Here's what I am finding...their colors are as bold as I was warned...loving that! They are similar to watercolor in terms of control, but they also lend themselves nicely to "happy mistakes"! They don't play well with gloss medium if they are being painted over, as they can bleed into the gel medium (even after they are dry) but they will happily sit atop of dried gloss medium!
I'm currently working on a series of 12" x 12" panels that combine acrylics with alcohol inks. So far I'm pleased with the results...happy mistakes and all! What do you think?
These pieces are currently available, if interested, contact me directly for details!
